My Discussion Post
·

While reading each book, you complete My Annotation. Also while reading, some passages will be particularly interesting to you. You will focus on some of those passages in your discussion posts. For each book/section, you will make “My Discussion Post.” It should be written in a single Word document, which you will upload to iCollege.

What To Include In Your Discussion Post

While reading each book, you will find some passages to be particularly interesting. When that happens, make a note of its page location and then continue reading. When done reading, decide which part you found most interesting and that you have the most to say about. Your post is not about the whole book or even a whole chapter. There are not “right” or “wrong” answers.

To be graded as complete, your discussion post must include all of the following, entirely in your own words (i.e., no quotation or plagiarism):

  • Specify the location of what you found most interesting and describe it in your own words; the answer may be any word length. Whether you have a paper-/hardback or electronic version, just make sure whoever reads your post can figure out where the passage is in the book.

  • Specify what you found interesting about that part; this should be at least 100 words. Your answer should address each of the following: whether you personally experienced that “something”; why you think you did, or did not, experience it; and, how it shaped who you are, what you do, who you want to be, or what you will do in the future.

  • Specify the practical implications of what you found interesting and your experience; this should be at least 100 words. Your answer should address each of the following: whether you think “we” — as a society — need to change things; why (not); how to change it or keep things the same. You must take a position, not “be on the fence.”
